PETITION FOR LIVE COURT HEARINGS IN NEPAL
A Call for Transparent Justice and a Corruption-Free Nation We, the people of Nepal, passionately demand the immediate establishment of a clear legal framework to broadcast live court hearings at all levels of the judiciary from the Supreme Court to district courts. Every proceeding should be streamed in real time on national television, a dedicated judicial YouTube channel, and an official court website, allowing every citizen to witness justice being delivered openly and fairly. This reform is practical and proven. Many countries, including India, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, and South Africa, have successfully implemented live court broadcasts, restoring public trust and strengthening the rule of law. Nepal’s Constitution already supports the right to information and open justice. Nothing in our constitutional provisions prevents this decision, it only requires the will to act. Live court hearings will bring sunlight into our justice system. Corruption thrives in darkness, but when every word, argument, and decision is visible to 30 million Nepalis, accountability becomes automatic. Judges, lawyers, and officials will act with greater integrity under the watchful eyes of the public. This single powerful reform can end the culture of delays, favoritism, and backroom deals once and for all, transforming Nepal into a great nation where justice prevails and corruption cannot survive. The implementation is straightforward: The Supreme Court and Parliament can issue guidelines or pass a simple amendment quickly. Affordable technology already exists and can be adopted with basic safeguards for privacy and sensitive cases. Starting with major hearings and expanding gradually will make this achievable within months. Fellow Nepalis, this is our moment to choose transparency over secrecy. Let us unite and demand live court hearings now. Together, we can build a Nepal where justice is not only done, but seen to be done creating a brighter, fairer future for generations to come.
